Luther Campbell Only Raises $250 In Campaign Money
Things are off to a rocky start in Luther Campbell’s run for Mayor of Miami.
In a fundraiser event in North Bay Village, FL, the rapper turned politician raised a mere $250.
According to WPLG News 10 in Miami, Campbell hoped to raise $5,000 to $10,000 by charging $25 to $500 per patron at the fundraiser.
Campbell’s $250 is reportedly $150,750 to $599,750 behind leading fundraiser efforts of other mayoral candidates.
Jose “Pepe” Cancio reported at $160,000, Carlos Gimenez reported about $230,000, Marcelo Llorente reported almost $370,000, and Julio Robaina reported over $600,000.
The former 2 Live Crew rapper claimed that his run for Mayor isn’t about his campaign fundraising, saying to WPLG, “It’s about jobs and getting new money into Miami.”
Still, running for mayor isn’t cheap. Luke might have been better off having his fundraiser event at Miami strip club King of Diamonds.
The next finance report date is on Friday, and hopefully Uncle Luke has better luck raising racks on racks at his next event.
The election will be held on May 24.
