Ex NOLA Mayor Releasing Memoir About Katrina Crisis

Ray Nagin Putting Out Book On Katrina Experience

Former mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin will release a book about his time in office during the costliest natural disaster in Unites States history Hurricane Katrina.

The book entitled Katrina’s Secrets: Storms after the Storm is scheduled for release June 8 and will chronicle Nagin’s experiences during Katrina in 2005 and the aftermath.

According to a press release for memoir, the book will delve into, “institutional issues of race and class that secretly conspired to control and slow down the recovery.”

Hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeast Louisiana August 29, 2005.

Due to flooding and catatrophic failure of the city’s levee system, New Orleans and the surrounding areas were devasted.

Damages totaled close to $100 billion.

Many people including Nagin scrutinized the federal government for their slow response to aid hurricane victims.
