BET announced in a tweet Wednesday night that a tribute to the beloved Detroit star Aailyah is in the works and will air next month.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Aaliyah’s death; the rising R&B singer-movie star was killed in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 in the Bahamas after a music video shoot.
At the time of her death, Aaliyah had just released her third album and had completed production on “Queen of the Damned” based on the Anne Rice novel.
While BET hasn’t revealed details, they did mention the upcoming screenings on the channel of Aaliyah’s cinematic work.
