In Blunt and Sometimes Crude Rap, A Strong Political Voice Emerges

Fou Malade and Thiat are two rappers from Senegal that are voicing their opposition to their country’s political state through song.

There have been riots and demonstrations to attempt to get President Abdoulaye Wade out of office and the rappers are getting the youth amped up and in July Thiat was imprisoned for public defamation of Wade.

“An old man of 90 who lies has no role in the country,” Thiat was accused of saying, and he did not deny it.
