The state of Texas has a new rising star making waves in Hip-Hop named Marcus Manchild. The Lone Star product talked with Hip-Hop Wired following his NYC Performance at S.O.B.’s. with 2 Chainz. The young MC spoke about who exactly Marcus Manchild.

“I rap about what I go through on an everyday basis,” Marcus told Hip-Hop Wired. “If I’m not doing good or feeling right, I’m talkin’ about that. If I’m partying [women, weed, liquor] I’m talkin’ about that.”

While providing us with an introduction on who he is, many of the onlookers at the sold out show were getting their first introduction to the “Space God.” Assisting with his introduction to NYC were fellow Texas rappers, Slim Thug and Paul Wall, who performed alongside Manchild for the sold out crowd.

“It was wild…I had no idea the crowd would react like they did,” said Marcus. “It’s always a blessing to be around these legendary people that have been putting on for ten plus years nationwide and in Texas.” With Slim and Paul Wall there to serve as an inspiration to Marcus on stage, he also cites Chicago rapper Twista as a means of motivation as well, which is evident in his rhyme style. “I always said I wanted to sound different in my music, and learning from Twista was a big help. I wanted to speed it up because everyone always says how slow H-town is. We still get down like that, but I just wanted to do my own thing and it’s still Houston, Texas.”

Laying down the foundation in his home-state of Texas has proved positive for Marcus, as his buzz has reached the point that major labels and publications have taken notice. The Houston spitter is one of the many candidates for the XXL Freshmen cover, which he felt honored for being in consideration. “It’s just a blessing to be top 50 among all of the rappers in the U.S. I’ll probably gain fans, who’ll research and want to know who I am, why I’m here and why they haven’t heard me. If I make the cover I’m going to continue working, and hopefully make my city, family, and myself proud…And get all the women I can (laughs).”

See what else Texas’ rising star had to say regarding these topics, and much more in this exclusive video.
