Hip-Hop continued its strong presence during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, with the annual All-Star Game taking place on Sunday evening. Nicki Minaj opened up the game’s tip-off with a very charismatic performance. The Young Money star started with “Moment 4 Life” off of her debut album Pink Friday. She followed up with “Super Bass” and also “Starships,” which can be found on her upcoming sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Despite getting a pre-game “good luck” kiss from Weezy, I don’t think Nicki did anything to dispel her critics who think she’s gone too far away from “Hip-Hop.”

Whether you approved of Nicki’s performance or not, it was a win for Hip-Hop as a whole. The culture was well represented throughout the entire All-Star weekend. We’ve seen J.Cole and Common play well in the Celebrity Game, Diddy assist Chase Budinger in the Dunk Contest, as well as a long list of events that took place outside of the actual NBA schedule.

Continue on to check Nicki’s performances. I’m sure Peter Rosenberg contemplated breaking his television while these took place.
