Mike Tyson was arrested in Los Angeles last night on suspicion of battery charges.
Police arrested the heavyweight after he allegedly punched a photographer in the face leaving a trail of blood on the ground. He was later released after he posted his $20,000 bail but not before he was booked for suspicion of misdemeanor battery. The photographer was also reportedly booked on misdemeanor battery charges.
According to officers, Tyson approached a United Airlines ticket counter at LAX when a paparazzi photographer got close to him. Apparently, the man was too close for Iron Mike’s liking and he punched the man in the face. The man fell to the floor and left a trail of blood as he quickly rushed out of his grasp. Tyson was taken away in a squad car while the photographer left in an ambulance.
A rep for Tyson said he was traveling with his 10-month-old daughter and wife and that he acted in self-defense to protect his child from the overly aggressive shooter.
LAX is the same airport where Kanye had his infamous stint with overly aggressive paparazzi. Less than a year ago, Ye and his road manager broke a photographer’s camera and were arrested on suspicion of vandalism and battery. Luckily for them, those charges were later dropped.
LAX was supposed to enforce stricter rules for paparazzi entering the building to shoot celebrities. That apparently has not happened.
