?uestlove had a major surprise for the fans at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival this weekend: D’Angelo.  Moments after The Roots finished their set Saturday (June 9) night, D’Angelo hit the stage marking his first live performance in the states in 12 years.

Supported by a nine-piece band, D’Angelo  performed the likes of “Have You Ever Been (to Electric Ladyland) by Jimi Hendrix, and “She Came Through the Bathroom Window,” by the Beatles.

Judging by the positive crowd response, the Philly drummer hopes that D’Angelo  will be moved to get back at it. “I wanted him to see that,” he told the Associated Press. “That’s a green light. Me doing it wasn’t like running out of jam partners. Me doing it was basically showing him ‘Look you re missed yo don’t even realize how much you are missed,’ hoping that this will be the adrenaline boost that will finally get him to turn his record into a label. It’s done, it’s brilliant. I played on it. I know it’s brilliant. Now it’s just time to let his kids go and show it to the world. That’ what I’m here for.”

Here’s hoping D’Angelo takes ?uestlove’s advice.
