Fans of the new age Blaxploitation comedy Black Dynamite should be pleased to know that an animated series based on the film is well into production with its first episode scheduled to premiere July 15th. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like not much will change as the cartoon version keeps the raw and hilarious energy that made the movie such a cult classic.
Michael Jai White will reprise his role as the infamous “Black Dynamite” alongside many of the cast from the original film; including Tommy Davidson as Cream Corn and Kym Whitley as Honey Bee, as well as the versatile Clifton Powell as “Black Dynamite’s Daddy.”
Black Dynamite airs Sunday, July 15th at 11:30pm EST on Cartoon Networks’ Adult Swim, watch the trailer below. Can we get an update on The Boondocks Season 4?!
