The mystery behind Jesse Jackson Jr.‘s whereabouts has finally been revealed. The Illinois Congressman has been receiving treatment for depression at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, according to a statement released by the hospital, Friday (July 27).

According to the hospital, Jackson is also being treated for gastrointestinal issues, possibly stemming from a 2004 procedure that he had to lose weight. “Further information will be released as Congressman Jackson’s evaluation proceeds,” read the statement.

“Certainly some people do, as part of their depression or anxiety disorder, manifest it with gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,” psychiatrist Matthew Lilly, who did his fellowship at Mayo, told the Huffington Post.

The Chicago resident, is son to civil rights figure Jesse Jackson Sr., and has been away from his post for over a month. Although he is currently at the Mayo Clinic, his representatives have yet to reveal where he was prior to arriving at the treatment center.

Some believed that Jackson was dealing with an addiction problem, issues of which were made more prevalent by the revelation that he suffered from a “mood disorder.”
