Police arrested a suspect over the weekend, connected to the shooting that broke out at Harlem’s Rucker Park, last week. Ricardo Laing was taken to the 32nd Precinct station house and is believed to have opened fire on a group of people during the Entertainment Basketball Classic game that injured five.

Among those hurt was a 16-year-old boy who was taken to a local hospital, and is in stable condition. “They started arguing, about a bad call or something like that,” said witness, Rodney Harris. “The guy was standing no more than five feet away from me. He pulled a gun out of his pocket and shot once. He then shot one more time. Everyone started running.”

Laing was picked out of a lineup by witnesses, and was apprehended in Yonkers, after officers got word that he was responsible for the shooting. Those in attendance, including former New York Knick, Nate Robinson, were all left running for cover during the violent outbreak.

A resident of White Plains, Laing has been charged with five counts of attempted murder , and is awaiting arraignment at a Manhattan Criminal Court.

The incident echoes a violent occurrence during a basketball game in the Bronx which took the life of 4-year-old Lloyd Morgan, who was shot in the head.
