Rick Ross may be a fan of Tupac, but when it comes to the “greatest rapper” of any time period, he feels that the Notorious B.I.G. deserves the title.
In an interview with FUSE the Boss lauded the slain Brooklyn rapper. “I was inspired by Notorious B.I.G. a lot,” he said. “His demeanor, the way he carried himself. He was just so laid back, he was just so authentic, not to mention I felt he was the greatest MC of all time.”
Fresh off the release of his God Forgives I Don’t album, Ross also explained the hands-on approach that he takes to his music. “I pick every beat that’s on the album,” Ross added. But when putting together songs, Ross works with members of his A&R team (like DJ Khaled) to link him with the proper producers. “If I’m looking for a certain sound they’ll go in, reach out to the people they believe that could make that sound the best.”
The rest of the FUSE interview finds the Miami native breaking down his “Sixteen” collaboration with Andre 3000, which was put together over Skype.
God Fogives I Don’t is expected to land Ross in the number one spot on the Billboard charts, and is poised to sell between 200,000 and 220,000 copies.
In related news, Tupac’s hologram has yet to release a statement on Ross’ proclamation.
