For the second day in a row Gabby Douglas clocked a not-so-medal worthy performance at the Summer Olympics. Douglas slipped off the balance beam Tuesday (Aug. 7), ending her chances at getting another medal.

Douglas lost her shot at more Olympic gold, when her foot slipped causing her to fall, but catching herself before hitting the mat. The teen has been candid about the exhaustion caused from training, competing, and countless media interviews. “Toward the end of the Olympics, you get physically tired and drained. And no matter how much rest you have your body is tired,” she said.

In response to the fall Douglas said she merely “rushed” herself.

Regardless of her slip up, the 16-year-old has more than left her mark on the games. She became the first Black woman to win a gymnastics gold medal in the solo competition, and grabbed a group gold medal last week. “We’re not losers,” Douglas said, after receiving a score of 13.166 for the routine. “We’re superheroes. We do tricks no one can do.

“We’re all humans. We all make mistakes. We’re 16-year-olds and have a lot of pressure on our shoulders. That’s kind of a lot for a teenager.”

Douglas is now planning return back to her home of Virginia Beach, Va. for the first time in two years. At age 14, she moved to Ohio for training and stayed with a host family. Now that her Olympic run is over, she is also expected to bring in millions upon millions of dollars in endorsements.

Chinese gymnast LinLin Dang won the gold medal after a score of 15.600 put her in first place.
