We may be learning more about the forthcoming Aaliyah album. As previously reported, Drake and Noah “40” Shebib will helm the project, Missy Elliott and Timbaland won’t be involved, and now comes a photo of the cover.

A Twitter page, allegedly belonging to Barry Hankerson, Aaliyah’s uncle and owner of Blackground Records, revealed the photo Thursday (Aug. 30) . Of course there are a few things are that pretty suspect here. For one, Hankerson only has 111 followers (which is just sad), and has been tweeting a little too much information for us to completely believe that it’s really him.

In a series of posts on the page, Hankerson retweeted several announcements about the cover art and the release date. A suspicious tweet was also sent to Elliott, which is strange being that she has nothing to do with the project. “Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” her manager, Mona Scott-Young said in a statement. “We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”

Hankerson has not yet disputed the validity of the Twitter page, so for now we’ll just have to believe that it actually may belong to him. If so, Aaliyah’s album will be out in 2013 and features 16 track.
