Are you sick of giant world class athletes acting like they’ve been shot by a rifle when they feel some contact? So was the NBA. National Basketball Association Spokesman Tim Frank says the league’s competition committee met two weeks ago and discussed a plan that would go in place this season to combat flopping and moments ago those motions were finalized.Players will be hit with a warning the first time, then be fined $5,000 the second offense. The fines increase to $30,000 for a sixth offense. The league said Wednesday that flopping will be defined “as any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player.”

Players that violate the anti-flopping rule six times or more will be subject to discipline that is reasonable under the circumstances, including an increased fine and/or suspension. The league will announce at a later date a separate set of penalties for flopping that will apply during the playoffs.

Are the NBA doing too much, not enough, or is it just right? Sound off in the comments section. The NBA Pre-Season kicks off this Friday.
