A Halloween party on the University of Southern California campus was marred by gun violence Wednesday (Oct. 31). Four victims were injured in the shooting.

According to police, the violence erupted following an argument between two parties, at which point one person pulled out a gun and started firing. While the suspect hit the intended target, three other bystanders were also caught in the crossfire.

USC officials sent text messages to students telling them of the shooting at around 11:30 p.m. Everyone started running. I saw a guy who was shot in the leg. He was limping and screaming for his friends to help him. ‘I got shot. Can someone give me a ride?’ His friends were helping him walk, a witness told the Los Angeles Times. People were screaming and running away.

Police detained two suspects, one of which was said to be the shooter, and are looking into whether or not the second person was an accomplice.

None of those injured face life-threatening danger.

Asst. Chief John Thomas of the USC Department of Public Safety said the situation wastotally an isolated incident,” and stating that there was no pending danger” to the university.

As of Thursday (Nov. 1) the campus had re-opened to students and faculty, but area where the shooting took place has been restricted, while LAPD officers continues their investigation.
