People love to break the law at the airport. A flight attendant at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport was arrested over the weekend, after her boyfriend allegedly jacked another passenger’s iPhone 4.

Stacy Ann-Smith, 27, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Jason McCaulay were going through security on their way to board an off-duty free flight to Puerto Rico, when they were busted by police.

The theft victim alerted Port Authority cops when he noticed that his phone was gone. According to authorities, McCaulay swiped the phone at around 11 p.m., after the traveler placed the device in the bin to go through a metal detector.

Smith claimed that McCaulay panicked and slipped the phone in her pocket, without her knowledge. After being brought in to be identified by the phone’s owner, PA officers realized that McCaulay came into the airport alongside Smith who fittingly headed to the bathroom. An officer followed and confronted her, at which point she denied any knowledge of the theft, until the phone was uncovered in a stall. “I left the phone in the bathroom stall,” she admitted, according to sources.

The couple, both from Queens, was promptly arrested.

McCaulay is said to have confessed to taking the phone, and was charged with petit larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property. He remains in custody pending an arraignment hearing in Queens Criminal Court, while Smith was given  a desk-appearance ticket before being released.
