Elliott Wilson returns with his rousing weekly debate, The Truth via Jay-Z’s Life + Times, this time asking the Internets “Is Nicki Minaj’s appeal fading?” YN’s question comes following the unusually low first week performance of the YMCMB MC’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, which sold about 36,000 copies.

Wilson dates Nicki Minaj’s mishaps back to the controversial Summer Jam incident with Hot 97, where she refused to take the stage after being criticized by brash radio personality Peter Rosenberg  (who Ebro Darden recently said ended her career). Since then, the platinum rapper has engaged in a publicized beef with American Idol co-host Mariah Carey and accused Aerosmith front man Stephen Tyler of being racist, among other antics.

Things haven’t been completely bad for Nicki in 2012, though. This year, the Queens artist also secured a job with American Idol and recently launched her own perfume brand, all while prepping her reality show, Nick Minaj: My Truth. Considering all of this, do you feel like Nicki’s star is fading? Sound off in the comments.
