Police in Chicago aren’t taking alleged threats against Rick Ross lightly. The Windy City-based gang Gangster Disciples are being investigated by local authorities for threatening the Miami rapper.

Video of the GD crew went viral as they called for the Maybach Music leader to pay up for using the name of their founder, Larry Hoover, in his music. “We had security on you G, you was supposed to cut the check then,” a gang member says in the clip. “You didn’t cut the check, so now you gotta’ release the check. We ain’t gon’ release this pressure off you until you release the check.”

Ross canceled the remainder of his tour after the North Carolina chapter of the GD’s warned him not to step foot in Charlotte.

Amid news that he was scared for his safety, Ross explained during an interview with Miami’s WEDR radio station, that he has no reason to fear anyone. “Rick Ross is a boss. You can’t cancel a Ricky Ross show without Ricky Ross’s permission.”

The father of two also pointed out the completion of his show in Chicago as more proof that he’s not scared of gang threats.
