Odd Future Protest Scheduled By Domestic Violence Groups
Disgusted by the gory lyrical content of the latest buzzmakers Odd Future, Chicago domestic violence awareness groups will be greeting concert goers during the Pitchfork Music Festival to protest.
A particular agency, Between Friends, is focused on preventing violence against women and seems to take Odd Future and everything they stand for to personal terms.
The agency is attempting to raise at least $1,500 to print fans to distribute to festival goers with empowering messages about domestic violence.
“We really wanted to take some initiative around this and just present a counterpoint view to violence in the media and use it as a teachable moment, because there are going to be people in that audience that have experienced [domestic violence], and we don’t want their experiences to go unnoticed or for them to think that this O.K. by any means,” said Between Friends Programs Director Yesenia Maldonado.
“It’s really our opportunity to take a stand.”
The music festival which takes place July 15th through 17th, is expected to hold over 20,000 concert goers.
The protest itself will take place July 16th, but interestingly enough Odd Future’s name has been removed from the line-up on the festival’s website.
