Another senseless act of violence has erupted in Brooklyn, leaving 14-year-old clinging to life after being shot on his way home from a party, Wednesday (June 27). Akeal Christopher was struck at around 11 p.m., in the Crown Heights section of the borough.

Christopher was walking with his cousin, and seven friends, when they were confronted by two men who asked them if they belonged to the local Loot Crew gang. One of the men began shooting, forcing the group to flee the scene.

The teen was shot in the back of the head, with the bullet exciting his forehead. He was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, and has been declared brain-dead.

Police revealed that the boy—who graduated from middle school earlier in the week— had no criminal history, and was not affiliated with the gang.

No suspects have been arrested for the crime.
