Yep, D’Angelo is officially back. The soul crooner’s comeback has long been discussed, including an in depth feature interview with GQ magazine, performing with the ?uestlove at the Bonnaroo Music Festival and a short tour overseas, but yesterday at the BET Awards the man born Michael Eugene Archer performed on television for the first time in a dozen years.

D’Angelo started off with a rendition of “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” which got the crowd, particularly the ladies, amped. From the there, the 38 year-old took a seat behind the keys and kicked off into a fudge funky new jam called “Sugar Daddy.” Moving back to the mic stand, and clearly feeling good on stage, the band let the song ride out for about five minutes with some onlookers in the crowd appreciating the magic they were witnessing while others looked indifferent. Their loss.

What did you think of D’Angelo’s set?
