As the ink dries on his new deal with RCA, Snoop Lion releases the third single from Reincarnation with the aptly titled “Lighters Up.” Just as a heads up, this track could very well be the best thing Snoop has unveiled since switching monikers. Credit these kudos, in part, to Dre Skull and Major Lazer, who crafted the stellar production.
Like a true OG, Snoop doesn’t allow the track’s content to coast through the lush soundscape. Assistance from established Reggae artists Mavado and Popcaan, who listeners may recognize from Pusha T’s latest single “Blocka,” also adds to the song’s groovy aesthetic.
If you like what you hear, you’ll have to practice patience because Reincarnation isn’t due out until early 2013. While Snoop slow roasts the project, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper is also preparing a documentary that shares the Reincarnation title and fully details his spiritual awakening in Jamaica.
