Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith, professionally known as EPMD, were featured on this week’s episode of Unsung on TVOne.

The Long Island duo broke out on the scene with their classic debut albumStrictly Business, . way gback in 1988. The album is one of the most critically acclaimed projects in rap history as it was one of the first of the original 43 albums to ever receive a 5-mic rating in The Source. It was also ranked on Blender’s “500 albums you must own before you die” list and one of Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums of all time.

In this episode of Unsung, the show chronicles the rise, fall and reunion of one of rap’s greatest duos through the eyes of Wendy Williams, Redman, Chuck Creekmur of AllHipHop and EPMD themselves. Short for Erick and Parrish Making Dollars, the pair would launch the careers of acts like Keith Murray, Das-EFX and the aforementioned Redman, to name a few.

This episode also takes an in-depth look at in-fighting that plagued the duo in the early 90s including a burglary of Smith’s home that was allegedly set up by his partner, Sermon.
