The murder case involving Aaron Hernandez is quickly developing as prosecutors continue to unseal documents and look through evidence in building their case. In newly released images, photos show the former New England Patriot holding what appears to be a gun in his left hand.

Several news outlets are poring through photocopies of the documents at $1 per page. The Boston Globe and the Hartford Courant are local papers that have amassed and posted up copies of the photos to Twitter. The images were taken from a home surveillance system inside Hernandez’s home, on the same night when Odin Lloyd was killed.

The photos are significant because records show that Lloyd was shot five times, including once in the heart, with a .45 caliber handgun. Police found a clip for a .45 Glock and believe that weapon is the same one that Hernandez is seen holding in the screen shots from the videos. The grainy quality of the images aside, prosecutors have access to much clearer shots to look through.

The unsealed documents also show that Hernandez lied to police in saying he didn’t know Ernest Wallace, a man who may be involved in the Lloyd slaying. Wallace’s number was found in Hernandez’s phone. Hernandez is due in court on August 22 for a probable cause hearing.
