Nicki Minaj was in the news this weekend thanks to Power 105’s Powerhouse concert in Brooklyn and a pair of interviews. The YMCMB Barbie finally addressed Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse and she also seemed to throw shade at Drake.

The Breakfast Club caught up with Nicki after her surprise performance at the Barclays Center on Saturday night. After talking about working on her new album (due in 2014) and Halloween costumes, Charlamagne Da God asked her about not being mentioned in Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse.

“I’m probably in the top five of the ni–as he did mention, so go and do your motherfucking research. Straight up and down,” said Minaj “But, I also feel like maybe he’s one of those respectful gentlemen that probably wanted to feel like,  ‘I don’t want to say a female’s name.’ Or maybe he just don’t think the kid is ill. But the kid know the kid is ill, so I don’t need to be on nobody’s d-ck.”

She added, jokingly (sort of), “I’m the Queen of New York, I’m the King of New York, let me tell you why, platinum album. Albums, plural.”

As for Drake’s new album, Nothing Was The Same, on “Tuscan Leather,” the Toronto rapper mentioned that he and Nicki Minaj were not on the best of terms over something he did. During an interview with Whoo Kid, she addressed Drizzy when asked about his lack of Young Money features on his latest project

“No, I’m Young Money til the death of me,” she told Whoo Kid, noting that her album will surely have plenty of YMCMB contributions. “Drake can do what Drake do but Nicki Minaj is a whole different person. I think your team is your team. Who gives a f-ck about trying to be different? I’m always going to want my team to be a part of my project, no matter what, in some way.”

Are we reading too much in between the lines, or was that a shot?
