‘Tis the season for giving and Rich Homie Quan has been doing plenty of that. The “Some Kind of Way” hitmaker just dropped a new mixtape, I Promise I Never Will Stop Going In with DJ “Mr Thanksgiving” Drama but still found the time to do for those in lesser circumstances.

After his “Feed the Street” campaign did so well in his hometown of Atlanta, Rich Homie decided that the entire country needed to be well-nourished and launched a tour out of it. A New York winter can be brutal to no end so his first stop was at the Food Bank For New York City’s Community Kitchen, 252 West 116th Street.

The move benefitted nearly 500 New Yorkers who were in need of soul food and Rich Homie was happy to oblige. His alignment with the NYC Food Bank was smart as they are a well-oiled machine when it comes to taking care of empty bellies.

Via the official press release:

Food Bank For New York City is the national’s largest food bank and NYC’s major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. Lines at soup kitchens and food pantries are expected to increase in New York City and across the country this Thanksgiving, following a $5 billion cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps) that slashed benefits for 47 million Americans, including 2 million New Yorkers. The November 1 SNAP cuts mean a loss of 76 million meals in NYC – more food than Food Bank For New York City, the largest food bank in the country, distributes annually. NYC’s economy will be drained of almost $225 million, deepening food poverty and threatening jobs at every link in the food chain. The emergency food system, already challenged to meet high levels of need with insufficient resources, is ill-equipped to meet the additional demand.

In the meantime, check out the gallery where Quan the Caregiver put in work in the kitchen and for more information on the NYC Food Bank, visit www.foodbanknyc.org.
