When former Roc-A-Fella Records chiefs Jay Z and Dame Dash split ways in 2004, it would mark the end of one of Hip-Hop’s most lucrative partnerships.

In that time, Jay Z has grown to become an international brand while Dame Dash continues to erect new business ventures in and outside music. Dash sat down with REVOLT TV recently, talking about how he and his old friend patched things up.

The reconciliation between the former close allies shook the world when last August, Dash posted a photo of he and Hov at a birthday party on to Instagram. Looking like the fast friends of old, it put to rest chatter that the men were no longer speaking to each other. Both Dash and Jay Z kept largely mum about the impromptu reunion, but Dash opened up to REVOLT and showed that there’s more to the relationship than just music for the pair.

“That goes without saying that if I’m getting with you, is you gonna be a game changer. Like I don’t get with you if I think you’re not gonna change history,” said Dash, decked out in a plaid button-up, pea coat and Russian-style winter hat.

“What’s the purpose? That’s not the game I’m playing, that’s not my business model,” explained Dash further as he shared his aims in how he selects clients or artists to work with.

Dash also shares in the clip that in management, the stars typically end up penniless while the handlers and executives get rich but says in his case it’s been the other way around. “That must mean I must be really honest or whatever, or somebody’s not,” said Dash with a laugh.

Dash then talked up seeing Jay Z in concert along with his 13-year-old daughter, Ava, last December and gushed over how appreciative he was for the love the Brooklyn superstar showed his family.

“When Jay gave my daughter a shoutout, that was all I was ever business with Jay for. That was the thing, that my daughter got to get a shoutout from the biggest rap star on the planet and go to school with that,” said Dash. “All I want to do is look cool in front of my children, to be honest.”
