De La Soul celebrated the 25th anniversary of their classic debut, 3 Feet High and Rising, yesterday. Today (March 4), the Long Island trio drop a J Dilla produced song called “Dilla Plugged In.”

Dave and Pos dropped familiar bars from “Plug Tunin'” over an ambient groove and mean drug programming. Reportedly the group went out to Detroit to record this over the instrumental from their late collaborator. The song is from the forthcoming, J Dilla produced Smell The DA.I.S.Y. mixtape, according to Nah Right.

That’s just the first of a few De La projects including an EP called Soul On The Rocks that will feature production from DJ Premier and Pete Rock, and a proper album called You’re Welcome.
