Hip-Hop was left in a state of bewilderment earlier today after legendary Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez announced her resignation from her longtime position at the station.
Known to many as “The Voice of New York,” The Bronx native’s tenure at Hot spanned over 15 years in a true started from the bottom story. Martinez started off as an intern during her teenage years, only to rise the ranks and become an on-air personality. In spending years holding down the 3 PM to 7 PM time slot, she was able to build a rapport with the New York tri-state area as a trusted voice in Hip-Hop.
That, of course, has led to an outpour of love from former colleagues, artists, media figures, and cultural purveyors overall.
After the jump, you’ll find tweets of admiration for Angie Martinez from people of each aforementioned party. Scroll through and be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments.
UPDATE: Angie Martinez is off to Power 105.1.
