Of the newcomers that have piqued our interests, fewer than a handful delivered a story as captivating as the one heard on Wara From The NBHD’s new album, Kidnapped.

Hailing from Atlanta by way of Brooklyn, the project’s sound falls somewhere in between. While sonically ambitious, the music at no time outweighs Wara’s tale, which details a young character named Piano Lessons. The rapper described the imagined youth as “a young teenager who’s still trying to figure the world out.”

No different from any adolescent, Lessons is piecing his life together as he goes. But this time, listeners get to hear (or visualize) the ramifications of his decisions track by track.

Ware wrote and produced the entire body of work, leaving sparse spots from features from fellow youthful upstarts GrandeMarshall, Light Skinned Mac-11 of FatKidsBrotha (Two-9) and Rellajämü. Stream Kidnapped below.
