Mike Brown sustained nine bullet wounds one of which was to his right hand, according to an autopsy report posted by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The 18-year-old was also shot in the head at least twice, including a hit to the top of the head, right eye, and the middle of his forehead.

The number of wounds do not necessarily correspond with the number of shots fired. Brown is believed to have been shot at least six times. He sustained additional wounds to his upper and middle right arm, right forearm, and two shots to the chest.

The deceased was “belligerent” toward Officer Darren Wilson, a preliminary report from the scene stated. Wilson and Brown struggled over the officer’s gun at his squad car, the paperwork also says.

During their tussle, the weapon became “unholstered” and discharged. Brown then began to run away.

Wilson reportedly fired several shots into Brown after the teen turned around and charged towards him.

Some witnesses say Wilson shot Brown as he held his hands up to surrender. The hand wound may or may not corroberate witness recounts.

The fatal wound is said to have been one of the shots to Brown’s head, an independent autopsy conducted by New York City-based medical examiner Michael Baden concluded in August.

Brown’s body was identified by his mother, Lesley McSpadden.
