Bobby Shmurda and his ongoing legal woes seemed to be coming to a brief resolution last Friday after a $2 million bail package was filed on his behalf. On Wednesday (Feb. 4), the bail arrangement was withdrawn although Shmurda’s attorney says its side will file a new bond application.

As we shared last week, a bail bondsman to the stars, Ira Judelson, reportedly put together the bail package to get the 20-year-old rapper out of Rikers Island prison. Facing numerous counts of gang conspiracy, Bobby Shmurda, born Ackquille Pollard, has been in protective custody within the prison since December. Judelson, who has worked with Ja Rule and DMX, was cited as a “management associate” by Shmurda’s new lawyer, Kenneth Montgomery.

The New York Times has been following the case and has more:

A $2 million bail package application posted Friday on behalf of the 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper, who is facing an array of gang conspiracy charges, was pulled on Wednesday, the office of the special narcotics prosecutor for New York City said.

“It’s our understanding that the suretor has withdrawn and that no hearing is currently scheduled,” said Kati Cornell, a spokeswoman for the office.

Kenneth Montgomery, Mr. Shmurda’s lawyer, confirmed that the bail arrangement, which was backed by the rapper’s “management associates,” has been put on hold. “We’re trying to do a new bond application and are in the process in the figuring that out,” Mr. Montgomery said. “We’re hoping to get it done within the next week.”

Montgomery is aggressively pursuing his client’s freedom and a move to trial. The lawyer called the charges against Shmurda “ridiculous” and that the rapper’s so-called leadership role of the GS-9 crime gang is overstated.
