Here is another one for the “What did you says about ‘post-racial America?” file. A North Carolina teen took to the ‘Gram to post a pro-confederate flag photo and her friend then joked about buying slaves.

Reports Raw Story:

A North Carolina student has apologized for posting a pro-Confederate photo on social media following a class trip to Gettysburg.

The East Chapel Hill High School student posted a photo on Instagram showing two girls waving Confederate flags with the caption, “South will rise,” reported WTVD-TV.

“Already bought my first slave,” another teen commented below.

The photo was taken two weeks ago during a school trip to the Civil War battlefield, school officials confirmed.

The Instagram post has been deleted, and the station reported the student posted an apology.

School officials say they have taken action but declined to offer specifics.

Before you say something like, “Kids will be kids,” just shut up.

Parents from the school claim no action was taken to punish the teen who posted the pic and the teen commenter, and are calling for real disciplinary action. However the school is copping pleas since the photo was posted on Instagram, thus claiming it wasn’t in there jurisdiction.

Umm, but the pics were from a school trip, though. So, what’s the problem?

Sounds like everyone—students, teachers and parents—need a lesson on the history of the confederate flag, and why such a tasteless “joke” is offensive. Also, the South lost the the Civil War.

See the photo in question on the flip.
