A Tribe Called Quest‘s We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service is the #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

A Tribe Called Quest‘s first album in 18 years has landed at the top of the Billboard charts. We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service instantly became the most anticipated Hip-Hop release of the year when it was announced over the summer. When the official release date was revealed the anticipation kicked into overdrive. When it finally arrived fans and critics alike gushed over the return of one of Hip-Hop’s most important groups.

Billboard reports the album earned 135,000 equivalent album units [streams and downloads] in the week ending Nov. 17, with 112,000 of them being traditional album sales. This is the first time Tribe has had a #1 album since their 1996 release Beats, Rhymes and Life. They knock Jeezy’s Trap Or Die 3 album out of top spot. Jeezy himself saw an eight-year lull between #1 albums since his The Recession album topped the charts in 2008. Rae Sremmurd currently has the #1 song in the country with “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane. So yeah, Hip-Hop is on top of everything right now.

This news comes just days after Tribe revealed plans for a world tour to support the album. Check out Tribe performing tracks from the album during their Saturday Night Live appearance last weekend.
