This time, Twitter got it right. Last night, rumors started swirling that Atlanta rapper Trinidad James, or Trinidad James$, landed a record deal with Def Jam to the tune of $2 million dollars. Now Def Jam president Joie Manda has confirmed the signing.
Billboard first reported the news of the “All Gold Everything” rapper’s shiny new deal.

James’ come up in the rap game has been a whirlwind. His “All Gold Everything” quickly became a staple in clubs and its bright colored video that featured the former clothing boutique owner shirtless, with Crayola colored pants and occasionally a puppy dogs in his arms, quickly went viral. The video has been played 2.7 millions times on YouTube since going up in October.
Rumors were running rampant about which label he would be able to woo (see what we did their?) to their stable. No word on what James’ new deal is worth money wise.
Most amazing is that James has admitted that he only started rapping seriously 10 months ago. On top of that, he snatched the beat for his “All Gold Everything” smash off the Internet for the whopping cost of free.99.
