The weather is getting cold in Chicago but that doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down the city’s shooting epidemic. Aspiring rapper Joshua “JayLoud Davis was shot and killed on Christmas Day following a dispute with several men, allegedly over his decision to wear a hoodie donning the name of Joseph “Lil JoJo Coleman, who was gunned down over the summer.

Coleman was killed following an altercation with Chief Keef’s people. His mother believes that Keef paid someone to kill her son.

Davis got into an argument with several men at around 11:30 p.m. Christmas night, on the 2000 block of West 69th Street, when one of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire. The 18-year-old was shot several times in the torso, as well as once in the ear. He was transported to Advocate Christ Hospital where he was pronounced dead one hour later. “It was my little brother,” Davis’ older brother told local news station, Fox 32. “It was like the other half of my heart, and he gone now.”

The shooting was one of two that occurred blocks apart, the first of which involved a man shooting at his stepfather before police were called.

Authorities have yet to arrest anyone involved in Davis’ death.
