Yesterday, the good folks at Complex introduced Quickstrike, a new Complex TV series dedicated to sneaker culture. The five minute show derives its format from ESPN’s Pardon The Interruption, and features hosts DJ Clark Kent and Complex Sneaker Editor, Russ Bengtson discussing their opinions on the latest happenings in the shoe game.

In the inaugural episode, the duo cover the OG Chicago colorway of the Air Jordan I and the new Knicks inspired version. Clark Kent and Bengtson, both deeply entrenched in their views on the iconic shoe, dispute how Nike should have handled its rerelease. Here, the age old debate of whether the decision to omit “Nike Air” from the shoe’s tongue does a disservice to Jordan enthusiasts comes into play.

“If you’re going to bring back the original Air Jordan I, “Nike Air” on the tongue is part of it,” exclaims Bengtson. “You’ve seen the box right? It has Nike in letters ‘this big’ on it. So you can put it on the box, but you can’t put it on the shoe? I’m not gonna wear the box!” We agree with Russ. Nike needs to adhere!

The duo also select a Sneaker of the Week, examine Foamposite lovers and more. All in all, the diverse topics make the debate entertaining for sneaker heads and those interested in the culture. See the footage below.
