Here we go again, Florida.

A man in the sunshine state got a little too angry during an argument with his girlfriend Wednesday (Jan. 16), and bit her thumb off.

Police say that the altercation went down while the suspect, Ricardo Marquis Davis, was driving his significant other to work at a local Taco Bell.

Hospital officials contacted authorities when the woman came in for treatment. Doctors were able to reattach the thumb, according to Palm Bay police spokeswoman, Yvonne Martinez.

Davis confessed to biting off the thumb and spitting it out onto the floor of the car. He attests that he attacked his girlfriend after she pushed his head while they were driving to her job.

The 35-year-old was taken to Brevard County Jail, where he is being held on aggravated battery charges.

Fights that end with fingers being bitten off aren’t all that uncommon. Last October, a Chicago woman bit her boyfriend’s finger off while she was being choked by him. The woman retaliated against 37-year-old Jerry Stevenson after her arrived at her house with a shotgun. He threatened her and her children, and had his finger bitten off when he placed it in her mouth, during the strangulation attempt.
