President Barack Obama delivered his tough measures on gun control just under a week ago. Today, a shooting at a Houston area college took place that sent three individuals to area hospitals for treatment.

Local NBC television affiliate KPRC reports that gunshots rang out at the Lone Star College in northern Harris County around 12:30 p.m. central time. Although reports by various news outlets reported serious injuries from the three persons wounded, no official report from both Ben Taub Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital has been officially released. Police say a person of interest has been placed in custody, as a search for another suspect is well underway.

Reginald Neal, an uncle of 24-year-old shooting victim Jody Neal, told KPRC that his nephew was shot three times. “All I know he got shot three times. That’s all I know,” Reginald Neal said to KPRC. “He got shot in one of his arms, in the stomach and the leg.” The victim’s sister Stacy Neal added, “He was sitting in the study room. There [were] three people on the computer and a guy walked up the stairs and opened fire on him. They said it was just one guy that came in with a gun.”

Lone Star College tweeted earlier today that the shooting took place between two individuals, stating that the incident has “been mitigated” and that authorities had taken control of the situation. The school has been evacuated and closed for the day.

Police are currently on the lookout for a Black male aged 18-to-20 wearing a red shirt and Atlanta Falcons baseball cap who fled to a nearby neighborhood.
