It’s day five of the “Jordan XX8 Days Of Flight” campaign, and Jordan Brand commemorates its promotional efforts for the the Air Jordan XX8 (28) with another eargasm, this time by seasoned vet MC Lyte. Aptly titled “Jordan Effect,” the track features the Brooklyn lyricist utilizing her dexterous flow to praise the lineage of the infamous Air Jordan shoe.

From the opening bar it’s apparent that Lyte can still very much rap your favorite rappers out of house and home. And it’s understandable if you feel an urge to do the wop upon hearing immaculate bars like, “Notice I’m focused/ To perfection I’m the closest/ The best and you know this/ Try not and I’ll become the coldest/ Giving dudes the cold shoulders.”

The track take you back to ’88, and Erick Sermon’s complimentary ad-libs only reinforce the cut’s nostalgic aesthetic. Based on the recipe for “XX8 Days Of Flight,” we’ll assume that E Double  produced the track as well. “Jordan Effect” follows up where Big Daddy Kane and DJ Premier left off with last week’s “28 Bars of Kane.”
