Keeping it real almost went wrong for Toronto Raptors play-by-play man Matt Devlin.

The Toronto Raptors commentator threw a few shots at the Grammy-nominated Maybach Music Group rapper, Wale, last night during the Wizards/Raptors contest in the Verizon Center.

“You see his reaction. A fan is heckling him, and this fan is a well known local rapper named Wale, locally here,” said Devlin. “He said ‘hey Wale, I’m in Canada now. Call me,” his partner, Jack Armstrong said in reference to Raptors star swingman, Rudy Gay motioning a phone gesture towards the MMG rapper.

“Call me after the game because I just torched the Wizards for at least a dozen here in the second quarter and counting,” continued the Toronto commentator. “Wale is inspiring, and i’m sure somebody on Twitter can tell me exactly if they’ve ever heard of Wale. He’s not Drake, that’s for sure.”

Word must have gotten to the MC pretty quickly because later in the game, not only did the Ambition rapper tweet the commentator to “watch your mouth,”he even confronted him at the commentator booth. It isn’t clear what was said between the two, but it sure didn’t look the friendliest.

Folarin would downplay the altercation on Twitter along with the Raptors star forward, stating “Me and Wale was just joking y’all. That’ s my boy right there.” Wale went on to tweet “Somebody calls [you] out your name and you confront them, you wrong. So who [are you] cheering for? The people who take insults in stride? Since when?”

You can check out videos of the altercation and the insult down after the jump.
