Curren$y is billed to headline BMI’s 15th annual Unsigned Urban Showcase at Atlanta’s Terminal West, April 11.

Earlier today, Spitta was announced as the lead performer for the event, sponsored by V-103 radio station, and Uber  (a product on-demand service owned by Monster).

Good Music’s Teyana Taylor will co-host the showcase, alongside, Byron Wright, BMI’s Director of writer-publisher relations.

Aspiring artists from all areas of urban music were encouraged to apply for the chance to take the stage. Out of the 200 submissions received, four people– Jade Novah, Spree Wilson, Skipper Jones and Dezzy Yates the Phreshbot– were chosen for the showcase. “Providing a platform for unsigned singer-songwriters to showcase their talent is a major priority for BMI, said Wright in a statement to Hip-Hop Wired. “The four diverse finalists selected to perform at our event are on the cusp of stardom and we’re honored to showcase them to Atlanta’s music community.”

All four will perform in front of a judging panel of music industry heavyweights to include, Atlantic Records Senior Vice President of A&R Dallas Martin,DTP Records Senior A&R Paris Kirk, social media expert Karen Civil, and Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star, Stevie J.

The winner will receive several prizes, as well as tickets to the 2013 BMI Urban Awards.
