Hip-Hop fans have been teased for years by standout rappers claiming to clique up and form a group. The latest rising star to promise such a pairing is Top Dawg Entertainment’s ScHoolboy Q, who suggests he, Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky and fellow TDE foot soldier Ab-Soul might become a supergroup. Is it Christmas already?

XXL got the scoop from L.A. Puffy during an interview to mostly discuss his Aftermath/Interscope debut Oxymoron. While listeners are eager to see if Q’s major label record will stack up to his previous work, it was his brief mention of possibly joining with the aforementioned popular artists that turned heads.

From the XXL interview:

We may even do an album together, we’ve been talking about it – call that whole sh-t Druggys Wit Hoes. We may do it. Me and Rocky may do a project together, too. We’ve been talking about it, too. I’m just waiting to get this album out and just see what happens. As of right now, I don’t know. After this album, sh-t, I want to work with both the homies. I want to do a project with Soul and I want to do one with Rocky. Maybe we can even put our own little group together – me, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown and Rocky.

It’s clear Q has chemistry with A$AP Rocky, after working on the tracks “PMW (All I Really Need)” from the Harlem kid’s Live.Long.A$AP album and “Hands On The Wheel” off ScHoolboy’s second album Habits & Contradictions.

Danny Brown joined forces with Q on The Alchemist’s “Flight Confirmation” single from the producer’s Russian Roulette album. Soul-o and Q have several songs together as label mates and Black Hippy crew members.

Although there is no timetable for the potential release, fans can expect Oxymoron to hit shelves this year.
