Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took their show to Conan last night, where they performed their Billboard top 10 hit “Can’t Hold Us.” Considering that the duo’s album, The Heist, was officially certified gold earlier this week, it may be safe to assume that there was a special meaning behind this live rendition.

Backed by Ray Dalton, who provides the soulful vocals on the track, a brass section and a few back up dancers, Macklemore gave one of his patented exuberant performances of the inspirational cut. If you’ve never seen the Seattle MC grace the stage, just know that he is from a school of old school MCs as far as presence and crowd control.

Even if you’re not a fan of the “Thrift Shop” rapper, the accolades speak for themselves. So far, The Heist granted the duo a double platinum single, the aforementioned gold status, a few top 10 charts, and headlining status at this year’s Paid Dues Festival. Mind you, Macklemore and Lewis achieved this as independent artist. Tip your hats to that.
