Snoop Lion is linking with MTV and Jewelry for a Cause for the release of a line of bracelets aimed at getting illegal guns off the streets. The collaboration will also be included in the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, the network announced Tuesday (April 9).

Starting next Monday (April 15) –one day after the award show– bracelets holding serial numbers from illegal gun buyback programs in Newark, N.J., will go up for sale. The unisex “MTV x Caliber” bracelets can be pre-ordered as of today, with a portion of the proceeds befitting the Newark Police Department, to help fund future buyback programs.

Looping Snoop in the campaign comes in conjunction with the release of his “No Guns Allowed” video featuring daughter, Cori B, and Drake. “This is such an important message we’re sharing,” Snoop said in a statement. “It’s a movement we want generations to recognize, embrace and get behind. We’ve seen a lot of senseless acts of violence involving guns recently–too many have lost their lives, too many families have been destroyed. Like my friends at MTV, I want to be a part of the change that will help bring peace.”

Newark Mayor Corey Booker said in part that he was “grateful” to MTV and Jewelry for a Cause,” for helping in the anti-violence battle. “The ‘MTV x Caliber’ bracelet is a great addition to the Caliber Collection and will continue in the fight to reduce gun violence.”
