The Cool Kids are in a great space creatively. They’re just doing their thing separately, and that’s quite fine if the music is good. Chuck Inglish lets listeners be the judge via a recently released EP called Droptops.

Consider this to be an appetizer for Inglish’s forthcoming solo debut, Convertibles, due out before year’s end. The project features 9 tracks in total and a bevy of features. Guests include Travi$ Scott, Asher Roth, Da$h, Pharrell’s artist Buddy, and more.

Fans were given a preview of Inglish’s new material with the Scott-assisted “Back Up (Remix)” a few months ago. Sonically, the Michigan rapper/producer stays true to the futuristic boom-bap production fans know him for.

Inglish says Droptops was inspired by “a night spent in a droptop Bonneville during this year’s South by Southwest festival and the good vibes of spending a summer in Los Angeles.” That’s a perfect explanation, because this may be the first worthy dosage of seasonal tunes.
