Former Roc-A-Fella allies Just Blaze and Young Guru sat down and gave fans an insider view on some of their past and recent travels in the music industry. Guru led off the interview as the pair discussed working with Jay-Z, the evolution of Electronic Dance Music and lots more.

Hardknock.tv recorded the pair chopping it up casually as famed DJ and engineer Young Guru opened  by asking Just Blaze about his recent EDM endeavors and the success of the “Higher” single with Baauer.

“I’ve always made electronic records [and] house records,” explained Just Blaze. “I never had an outlet for them. It was just no place for me to release them or no need for me to release them. It was just something that I did.”

Just Blaze admits that his early attempts at EDM with Joe Budden and Rah Digga did marginally well, but that he was “too early” to cash in on the current wave. Now, he plays DJ sets around the country for fans that may not know of his Hip-Hop roots.

Guru switched gears and talked about the creation of Jay-Z’s “Song Cry” single from his sixth studio album, The Blueprint. Blaze also dropped a major bombshell in revealing that Hov’s explosive “You Don’t Know” track almost went to Busta Rhymes.
