It would have been great to see a new Nas LP release in the fold of this year’s noteworthy projects, but he’s been adamant in saying fans can expect new tunes soon than later. In fact, he elaborated on his next studio album, the concept behind his Jay Z and Justin Timberlake-assisted track “Sinatra In The Sands,” plans for Illmatic‘s 20th anniversary and more in an interview with Huffington Post .

On the direction of his upcoming body of work, Nas said, “With this record, ah man … It’s the next chapter in myself as a writer. I’m really excited about every new leaf I turn. Every new endeavor.”

He continued, “I’m excited about that and all the potential that comes with everything new that I do. And all my ideas can come to fruition. And that excites me, because there’s no limits to what I can do, in terms of trying to be an inspiration.”

Hopefully, the Queensbridge legend will release his next opus around the time Illmatic turns 20 next year. And that goes double, since he’s planning to commemorate its release, too.

“We’re putting together a concert,” revealed Nas when asked how he’d celebrate the pinnacle album. “And I think we’re going to do something with the album and repackage it with special stuff. I think that’s in the works.”
