Allen Iverson’s dedication to the city of Philadelphia has paid off in full. The 76ers announced yesterday, November 27, they will retire their once-franchised players jersey #3 at the Wells-Fargo Arena on March 1, 2014 when they host the Washington Wizards.

“Allen Iverson is, without question, one of the most iconic players to ever wear the Sixers uniform,” said Philadelphia 76ers Chief Executive Officer Scott O’Neil. “Allen left everything out on the court and no one could ever question his heart – he was relentless, fearless and pound-for-pound, was one of the greatest to ever play the game.”

Despite his decline in recent years, Iverson remained a fan favorite in The City of Brotherly Love. After stints in Denver and overseas, he returned to the team to close out his legacy during the 2009-2010 NBA season.

He formally announced his retirement on October 30, 2013.

Despite his decline in recent years, Iverson will be remembered for his string of highlights.

The next step is the Hall of Fame.
